柱狀活性炭對(duì)水體中的揮發(fā)性有機(jī)物有比較好的吸附效果，可使水體中各種揮發(fā)性有機(jī)物去除率達(dá)到25%~65%。比較各種不同分子量有機(jī)物的吸附規(guī)律可以看出，對(duì)于揮發(fā)性有機(jī)物，分子量越大，它們的去除率就越高。這與苯酚與陽(yáng)離子嫩黃的吸附規(guī)律類似，即對(duì)于水體中的小分子有機(jī)物而言，分子量越大，越*被活性炭吸附。
  活性炭對(duì)分子量小于480以下的可提取有機(jī)物有著很好的去除效果，而對(duì)大分子有機(jī)物的去除效率很低。這主要是由于活性炭的微孔結(jié)構(gòu)空問(wèn)位阻效應(yīng)，太大的有機(jī)物分子不能進(jìn)入到活性炭的孔隙內(nèi)部，只能在活性炭的表面吸附
  通過(guò)對(duì)活性炭對(duì)揮發(fā)性及有機(jī)物的吸附效果進(jìn)行對(duì)比得出以下結(jié)論：
  活性炭對(duì)揮發(fā)性有機(jī)物與可提取有機(jī)物吸附有著較大的差別。揮發(fā)性有機(jī)物隨分子量的增大，其吸附效果越好，而可提取有機(jī)物隨分子量的減小，其吸附效果越好。這主要是由于揮發(fā)性的有機(jī)物主要是一些極性比較小的有機(jī)物，而可提取的有機(jī)物是極性比較大的有機(jī)物，活性炭本身可以看作是一個(gè)非極性吸附劑，對(duì)水中非極性物質(zhì)的吸附能力大于極性物質(zhì)的吸附能力。而且，吸附質(zhì)分子大小與活性炭呈一定比例時(shí)，較有利于吸附。對(duì)于極性較小的分子，分子量越大，越有利于吸附。
